Welcome to Emergency First Response of Rhode Island. (EFR-RI)

EFR-RI is dedicated to meeting the First Aid and CPR training, certification and recertification requirements of our community.

What is Emergency First Response?
Emergency First Response is an innovative CPR/first aid program. Primary Care (CPR) prepares you to render aid to those with life-threatening emergencies. Secondary Care (first aid) builds upon the lessons of Primary Care and helps you assist those in need when Emergency Medical Services are either delayed or unavailable.

Why Emergency First Response?
Accidents and illnesses happen every day. Some people need only a helping hand while others may suffer serious permanent injuries without help. By mastering Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (first aid) course skills you can render important care to those in need.
You’ll also know that you’re learning state of the art skills, based on the consensus view of the Basic Life Support (BLS) Working Group of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR). In addition, the program is based on established instructional design and educational protocols to render an educationally valid and credible product. Emergency First Response courses also meet CPR requirements for participants seeking certification through the American Council on Exercise.
Emergency First Response is also flexible ? you can learn background knowledge on your own time then conduct a practical, hands-on training sessions with a qualified Emergency First Response instructor from EFR-RI.

The Courses:
Emergency First Response is a new first aid program brought to you by Emergency First Response Corp., a PADI corporate affiliate. Composed of the Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (first aid) courses, the Emergency First Response program provides extensive CPR and first aid instruction, as well as a recommended Automated External Defibrillator (AED) component, conscious choking adult skill and emergency oxygen use orientation. The program is broken up in to two major courses Primary Care and Secondary care.
Emergency First Response Care for Children
The Emergency First Response Care for Children course is an innovative CPR, first aid and AED training course that teaches people how to provide emergency care for injured or ill children (ages one to eight) and infants less than one year old. You’ll learn about medical emergencies that children face and how they differ from adult conditions. The curriculum also includes the importance of attending to basic emergency situations with children, the emotional aspects of caring for children, secondary care for children, and preventing common injuries and illnesses in children.
EFR-RI is offered through the instructional staff at the Newport Diving Center, in Newport RI. Hence in addition to EFR programs a wide range of PADI scuba courses and programs are also offered. See out Scuba Section for more information.
